Short answer: No. E&O (Errors & Omissions) insurance is not required for referral agents operating under General Referral.

Why?

All referral agreements are processed using General Referral’s approved documentation and procedures. As a referral agent, you are not permitted to provide real estate services to the public. This means:
  • You do not represent buyers, sellers, tenants, or landlords.
  • You do not negotiate terms or participate in transactions.
  • You do not create an agency relationship with members of the public.
Your role is strictly limited to making referrals between a client and a licensed full-service agent through your broker. As no agency relationship is formed between you (or General Referral) and the buyer, seller, tenant, or landlord, and as you are not performing real estate brokerage services, E&O insurance is not required.
